The Antigo Gridiron Club meeting was called to order by President Joel Nowinsky at 6:35.   The meeting was held at the Schofield Stadium building.

FINANCIAL REPORT:  Joan Bauknecht gave the financial report, Don Strobel made a motion to approve, Don Lewis seconded.

 

2008 Fundraisers (We need people to head up each of these)

Membership Letter: (Jeanne, Lori Hottenstein & Joanie) Complete-- Memberships are still coming

Stadium signs:  (Joel & Jeanne)  New signs need to be painted, otherwise complete

 

Meet the Robins and Building Dedication:  (Lynn & Brad Henricks, Jeanne & Joel & helpers) Thursday, 8/21/08.  This is the evening before the first scrimmage at Wausau.  We hope to have a good turnout, and hope that people come to check out the building.  We want to make this dedication a special event.  Verne will have a column, invite past coaches.  Invite donors (Matt Shinners will do invites).  Food will begin at 5 with the dedication at 6, and announcing of the teams.  Ads in the paper at least 2 weeks before. 

 Tailgate, first home game—9/5/08.  (Freshman, sophomore, junior parents)

 

$100.00 raffle tickets (Ron Maly, Don Strobel in charge of the tickets.)

 

BUILDING DISCUSSION:  The ceiling is done.  Thank you to all who helped paint the floor. Outside of building is getting there, it still needs some more paint.

 

SOUND SYSTEM:  Quotes were discussed Matt Shinners moved to take lesser quote on sound system for $9,250.  Seconded by Brad Henricks, all in favor.

 

BLACKTOP ON NORTH SIDE OF BUILDING:  Quote discussed, getting some more quotes.  Would like to get this done before the season also.

 

DONOR PLAQUES:  Bob Ourada and Matt have a plan for the donor plaques.

 

DAVE BRANDT LEAGUE:  Tim Brandt attended the meeting. Joel mentioned that last year we talked about 

a tackling machine for the league. 

Tim expressed that finding a place to put the equipment is an immediate concern for this year.  Some ideas were discussed.  The Grid Iron will help to support whatever is decided.

 

30th ANNIVERSARY—(Joel)

 

SPORTS MEETING:  August 4.  Discussed having a sign up sheet to get some parents involved in helping.  Matt Shinners will have a talk explaining the Club to parents.   Will be sending out a letter to Freshman and Sophomore parents asking for their help so that we can keep the Grid Iron Club going.

VERNE CAHAK will be writing The Gridiron Club Focus in the paper again this year.  He said that if anyone has any ideas, he is open to suggestions.

 

Next meeting August 12, Schofield Stadium Building 6:30.
