Meet the Robins and Building Dedication:  Thursday, 8/21/08.  This is the evening before the first scrimmage at Wausau.  We hope to have a good turnout, and hope that people come to check out the building.  We want to make this dedication a special event.

 Tailgate, first home game—9/5/08.

There was a discussion on the $100.00 raffle tickets. We’ve been discussing the prizes. A motion by Don Strobel was made to give 10 $1,000 prizes away.  200 tickets will be sold.  Proceeds to go to the new PA system that we hope to have installed for this year’s games.  Roger Muengl seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

Pig Roast---There was a discussion as to whether we should have the pig roast this year.  There are many activities planned this year between working on the building, and getting that completed, and our regular fundraisers, we don’t want to exhaust the people who help and those who donate.   Kris Fincher made a motion to cancel for this year and put it on the agenda to discuss next year.  Rick Warren seconded the motion.   We would like to extend a special thank you to the Welnetz and Kubeny families for all donations they made to make event successful last year.

BUILDING DISCUSSION:  The ceiling should be done next week.  SET JUNE 21 AS A WORK DAY, we will begin at 8, people can come whenever possible during the day to help.  WE WILL BE PUTTING GRAVEL DOWN, PAINTING THE FLOOR AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING.  Gray with maroon flakes on the floor.

Discussed putting asphalt walkway south to north on the west side so you don’t have to walk in the mud.

DONOR PLAQUES:  Best place to put this, south of concession, east door to where windows start on the meeting room.  Matt Shinners is working on this.

30th ANNIVERSARY—

Coach John Lund brought up some ideas.  He said that every year we have to throw out some helmets.  An idea for raffles would be to cut the helmet and face mask in half and mount on something.  He has one in his office that was done, and is very nice.  These were done some time ago, maybe Gordy or someone might have an idea where they were done.

Also, John talked to the art club about painting a robin and some other things on the walls inside the building.

Video Scouting:  John and Joel brought up that last year there was video scouting.  This year with the new conference we will have the expenses of going on the road to scout.

Response to the Football camp for students entering 4th through 8th grade was good.  This camp will be held June 16-19 and Larry Krause will be there.

VERNE CAHAK will be writing The Gridiron Club Focus in the paper again this year.  He said that if anyone has any ideas, he is open to suggestions.

OFFICER ELECTIONS WERE HELD:  One change, Deb Black will be taking over as Vice –President.  Joel Nowinsky was elected President, with Jean Secretary and Joan Bauknecht Treasurer.

Lynn Mattek was thanked for all her years as Vice-President.  Lynn has been very active in the Gridiron Club from the beginning, 6 years ago, and intends to remain active in the future.

Welcome to Deb Black!  It is nice to get more people involved in the planning, thanks Deb for your interest.

The next meeting will be on July 8, 2008 at 6:30 p.m at the new building at Schofield Stadium.

Don Strobel made a motion to adjourn, Rick Warren Seconded the motion.
